Birch tar, added at 2% of the soap weight, is obtained naturally during the dry distillation of birch wood, a process called pyrolysis*. It appears as a dark, oily liquid with a pungent odor. It contains betulin, guaiacol, xylene, phenol, resinous substances, organic acids, and phytoncides, among other things. It has disinfectant, antipruritic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antiparasitic, antidandruff, antifungal, and keratoplastic properties (it softens the stratum corneum of the epidermis). That's quite a lot, isn't it? Because tar is good – it can work wonders for problematic skin and heal what nothing else has been able to do before. Furthermore, tar also has a gentle anesthetic effect, which has a positive impact on the well-being of people with skin problems, as it perfectly alleviates their symptoms. It's also a wonderful skincare product. One substance – a multitude of positive properties. We therefore recommend tar soap especially for those struggling with the problems mentioned above. This multi-purpose bar should tackle, among other things, itching, acne, persistent blackheads, and dandruff (yes, you can safely wash your hair with it). *Pyrolysis is a thermal process that involves decomposing wood without air, in retorts heated externally to 500°C (source: Wikipedia).
