Collagen is the main structural protein, constituting approximately 30% of all proteins in the human body, which plays an important role in continuous cell renewal. It is the building block of tissues and is responsible for their strength and elasticity. Collagen supports the development of organs, influences the cornea and gums, and builds bones, teeth, ligaments, tendons, muscles, the intestinal lining, blood vessels, and human skin and hair. Until the age of 25, the human body produces as much collagen as it loses; after that, this balance is disrupted. With age and aging, collagen and its properties are lost at a rate of 1% per year. The network of collagen fibers becomes weaker and sparser, which manifests itself in wrinkles, sagging and dull skin, and weak and brittle hair. In some cases, deficiencies of key proteins, including collagen, can contribute to the weakening of the scalp and hair follicles, and consequently lead to hair weakness and excessive hair loss. Collagen provides the amino acids needed to build keratin, the main component of hair, and as a basic component of the extracellular matrix, it is a key protein of the skin, including the scalp.
Fish Collagen Hydrolysate (Type I) used in CollaKer + Synergy is an excellent alternative for those avoiding bovine or porcine collagen. Fish collagen is considered the most easily absorbed because the chemical bonds between individual fibers are most similar to human collagen. It is a substance rich in protein and 17 key amino acids (mainly hydroxyproline, proline, and glycine) in the form of a low molecular weight hydrolysate (up to 2000 Da), which can be easily and effectively absorbed by the body.
Keratin is a protein whose name comes from the Greek word keras, meaning "horn." This protein, produced by keratinocytes, is the building block of our hair, nails, and partially the epidermis. It is a fibrous substance, rich in sulfur and insoluble in water, characterized by high durability and resistance to physical and chemical factors. Keratin, a structural component of hair, comes in two forms: fibrous keratin, which forms the hair cortex, and amorphous keratin, which, by integrating the fibrous structure and hair cuticles, gives them elasticity and smoothness. Sulfur is an important component of keratin found in hair. It creates cross-linked sulphide bonds that connect keratin into a durable chain, providing hair with elasticity and resistance to damage.
Keratin Hydrolysate used in the CollaKer + Synergy product is a protein in the form of a peptide obtained as a result of proprietary processing of New Zealand sheep wool, whose amino acid profile is highly correlated with the keratin of human hair. It is characterized by high solubility and bioavailability, thanks to which it is able to deliver keratin peptides to the body, especially to hair and nails.
