The Elephants round yoga, exercise, and Pilates mat utilizes the popular symbolism of the elephant. The elephant is a symbol of happiness, joy, and success in life. It is also a symbol of spiritual and physical power, inner strength, and majesty; it is believed to represent the true Self—and a connection to it. We wanted our elephant yoga mat to symbolize the path of spirituality by depicting a gray, wild elephant being tamed. A white elephant symbolizes such a tamed, spiritual mind. We decided that the Elephants pattern would best be presented on a round yoga and exercise mat, incorporating the symbolism of the mandala. In Hinduism and Buddhism, the mandala symbolizes the Universe—a concept in which everything is interconnected and forms one. The mandala also symbolizes the spiritual journey of an individual. It therefore combines the unity of the cosmos with the attempt to find one's individual place in it.
