This preparation is intended for adults as a dietary supplement with N-acetyl L-cysteine, L-glutathione, and milk thistle seed extract. NAC is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine and, after ingestion, is almost completely metabolized in the liver to cysteine, and then to glycine and glutathione. Glutathione is a compound present in all plant and animal cells. Its consumption is associated with a measurable increase in its concentration in plasma and various tissues, but this is not constant and decreases with age and oxidative stress. Low glutathione concentrations are also noted in the blood of smokers. Milk thistle supports proper liver function and helps maintain normal blood sugar levels.
