INGREDIENTS
Composition of plant emollients
The combination of olive oil and castor oil is a complex of natural emollients that support the regeneration of the epidermal barrier, have a smoothing effect, and increase the level of epidermal hydration.
The selected oils are sources of linoleic acid, which accelerates the epidermal healing process, supports the regeneration of the epidermal barrier, and soothes skin irritations. These emollients are also sources of vitamins A and E – antioxidants essential for protecting the skin from free radicals.
Ceramides
Ceramides are a group of organic chemical compounds classified as sphingolipids, which constitute a key component of the binder filling the spaces between cells in the stratum corneum. Ceramide deficiencies in the epidermis result in increased permeability of the epidermal barrier, leading to increased transepidermal water loss and decreased hydration. Furthermore, a dysfunctional lipid barrier increases the risk of skin irritation – it is more permeable to external factors, such as allergens or metabolites of the skin microbiota.
Pure Moist Complex - saccharide isomerate and Polyglyceryl-3-PCA biopolymer
Saccharide isomerate
A substance with a high affinity for cells of the stratum corneum. This means that its composition and structure are similar to the composition and structure of the intercellular cement, thanks to which this ingredient increases the level of hydration and softens and smoothes the epidermis.
Polyglyceryl-3 PCA
Polyglyceryl-3 PCA is a plant-derived compound, an ester of Polyglyceryl-3 (obtained from rice) and PCA (pyroglutamic acid; obtained from corn). It is an emollient and creates a thin film on the surface of the epidermis; a protective layer that protects against excessive water loss. It gives the skin a feeling of smoothness and softness.
Ectoine
Ectoine is a postbiotic, a substance produced by certain species of bacteria. This substance regulates the kinetics of hydration of the stratum corneum by increasing the hydration of a key epidermal protein – keratin. Used in cosmetic formulas, it soothes skin irritation and redness and has antioxidant properties.
Plant-derived prebiotics
Ingredients with prebiotic properties, inulin and alpha-glucan oligosaccharides, support the balance of the skin's microbiota, which strengthens the barrier function of the epidermis.
Alpha-glucan oligosaccharides is an oligomer, a compound from the group of sugars obtained from maltose or sucrose. Thanks to its hygroscopic properties, it increases the level of hydration of the epidermis. It is also considered a prebiotic, which supports the balance of the skin's microbiota.
Inulin is a polysaccharide composed of approximately 30–35 monosaccharide molecules linked by β-2,1-glycosidic bonds into an unbranched chain. Thanks to its hygroscopic properties, it creates a "moist compress" on the skin's surface, soothes irritations, and acts as a prebiotic on the skin's microbial stratum.
