Soy candles, unlike paraffin candles, tend to tunnel, meaning the wax burns unevenly. To avoid this, while the candle is burning, do not extinguish it until the wax has melted to the very edges of the container.3. Cotton wicks used in candle making are 100% natural, and therefore sensitive to prolonged burning. A large amount of melted wax makes the wick longer and heavier, which can cause it to tilt or smoke slightly. It's best to extinguish the candle, wait for the wax to harden, shorten the wick, and relight it. To prevent the wick from submerging, it's best to burn the candle for no longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Candles don't like to be left alone, so don't leave them unattended. Extinguish them with a wooden lid or a snuffer.
