1-MNA plays a role in regulating the level of NAD+ in the body. NAD+ is a key molecule involved in metabolic processes, including cellular energy production and DNA repair mechanisms. The amount of the coenzyme NAD+ decreases with age. The process begins after the age of 30. Between the ages of 40 and 60, NAD+ levels drop by up to 50%. This results in slower cell production and aging. Young cells and tissues have higher NAD+ levels, which translates into better physical activity and cognitive function, as well as greater cell regeneration potential. 1-MNA, a metabolite of vitamin B3 (niacin), participates in metabolic pathways that influence the availability of NAD+. 1-MNA supports NAD+ regeneration by increasing the efficiency of metabolic processes. Improving the function of these mechanisms contributes to stabilizing NAD+ levels. 1-MNA, by optimizing NAD+ levels, is a new approach to this process. Thanks to its properties, 1-MNA can provide valuable support in maintaining normal NAD+ levels, which is important for the functioning of cells and the body. 1-MNA also occurs in natural sources and is found in a few foods present in the diet. The richest known natural sources of 1-MNA are Wakame brown algae (Undaria pinnatifida) and green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis). Thanks to our research, we have synthesized this substance and demonstrated its safety, obtaining a positive opinion from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and approval for a so-called "novel food." As a result, we have developed the innovative ENDOTELIO dietary supplement.
