Colostrum contains a minimum of 35% immunoglobulins and is obtained within 16 hours of calving. The colostrum is processed at low temperatures and tested to ensure the biological activity of the various colostrum immunoglobulin fractions and to prevent their denaturation. Colostrum also contains proline-rich polypeptides (PRP), a special class of polypeptides naturally found in breast milk, containing 35% immunoglobulins.
