Jojoba esters nourish and moisturize the skin. Panthenol, a substance that soothes irritations, has anti-inflammatory properties, and promotes wound healing. Ceramides, a natural component of the intercellular cement of the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin). It affects the cohesion and elasticity of the epidermis. When delivered in cosmetics, it replenishes natural ceramides, the amount of which decreases with age. They protect the skin from external factors. They reduce water loss by regulating its content in the stratum corneum. They have anti-wrinkle and moisturizing properties. They are used in products for dry, aging skin. Vitamin E (tocopherol), an antioxidant, slows down the skin aging process by binding free radicals, which are formed, for example, under the influence of solar radiation and cigarette smoke. It penetrates the skin, strengthens the intercellular cement structure (reduces TEWL), thus moisturizing and protecting it. It prevents inflammation and damage to blood vessels, and improves blood circulation. Cholesterol has a moisturizing effect. Palmitic acid tripeptide, a low-molecular-weight peptide consisting of three amino acids, has the ability to penetrate deeper skin structures and stimulate cells to produce collagen. It is a signaling peptide.
