Properties and Uses
Mandelic acid belongs to the group of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs). It is found in bitter almonds. Of all AHA acids, it has the best antibacterial properties and is the most effective at stimulating the production of hyaluronic acid in the skin.
Thanks to its larger molecule size and soothing effect, mandelic acid is better tolerated, even by skin with dilated capillaries, and does not cause irritation, redness, or severe flaking. Mandelic acid peels can be used year-round, even in summer. As with all other AHA products, do not use solariums or sunbathe during the mandelic acid treatment.
Mandelic acid peels do not cause burning or redness, while maintaining their effectiveness.
