Oak bark - contains 9 to 15 percent tannins, which have astringent, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. They prevent water and electrolyte loss. Oak bark also contains flavonoids, phenolic acids, triterpenes, and mineral salts.
Celandine - contains twenty different alkaloids, the most important of which are chelidonine, allocryptine, chelerythrine, and sanguinarine. Active substances also include flavonoids, organic acids, including chelidonic acid, mineral salts, and vitamin C. The bactericidal and fungicidal properties of celandine are used externally to treat skin infections, especially fungal infections.
