The cosmetic properties of peat were already appreciated by Cleopatra, and its healing properties were well known to the ancient Greeks. Currently, only medicinal peat, called peloids or peloids, is used.
Peloids are rich in bitumens, pectins, cellulose, humic acids, fulvic acids, lignins, phytohormones, and other compounds with biological activity. Inorganic substances are mainly macro- and microelements.
Peat extract is obtained from natural peat to isolate the active substances. The method of producing peat extracts ensures, on the one hand, maximum isolation of all active substances from peat, even those insoluble in traditional peat, and on the other hand, the preservation of their therapeutic properties. The extract obtained in this way is the "essence" of what is most valuable in peat, free of all ballast.

Chemical composition of peat:

- humic acids - fulvic acids, humic acids, amino acids.

The hormonal effects of peat include stimulating the secretion of ovarian, adrenal, and pituitary hormones, as well as the direct action of estrogenic substances found in the peat, enzymes, and microbiological components, inorganic components – mineral salts, such as magnesium, potassium, aluminum, and sodium sulfates, iron, silicon, and calcium compounds.
